RENEWABLE ENERGY

At Frontier Co-op, a key part of our emissions footprint comes from the energy used in our operations, and since 2018, we’ve installed three solar arrays at our Norway, Belle Plaine, and Urbana facilities in Iowa, generating around 500 MWh of energy annually, while continually re-evaluating renewable energy options to further expand our arrays and meet the growing needs of our operations.

ZERO WASTE

As a manufacturer, minimizing and responsibly handling waste are key to our environmental responsibility, and since 2016, we’ve worked with the Iowa Waste Exchange to explore new ways to meet Zero Waste certification standards—diverting 90% of waste from landfills by tracking landfill, compost, and recycling streams to monitor progress against our diversion goals.

HOW2RECYCLE

In 2019, we joined How2Recycle®, a program of the GreenBlue Institute dedicated to reducing confusion related to recycling by providing a standardized labeling system for products. How2Recycle’s clear, concise labels help consumers quickly and easily understand how to responsibly discard a product at end of life. We are proud to share that these labels can now be found on our entire all of our distribution packaging, and is included on all Simply Organic products as of our 2022 rebrand.
